Our Fourth of July in Alexandria

On Friday we rode our bikes to the Potomac river. Here is how we do it. Papa with Sonia in the trailer and I usually help with Mischa. This time we took a new rout avoiding super crowded highway. We fed the geese; ate some pita bread and lots of watermelon; and made funny faces.
Yesterday we started our day with a delicious breakfast at our church! We missed early morning walk at 8:30 am but got there for some delicious whole wheat and buckwheat pancakes, eggs and fruit. It was Mischa's first time going to church with us; he would come every week if he could. We played games and I got Jeremy with a water balloon. Plus he spilled apple juice all over himself... Sonia thought water balloon shouldn't be thrown at people so lightly at all. She tried to take great care of hers and not to pop it.Then we went to see chickens at our friends house. First time touching real chickens for all of us! Sonia wanted to pet them all. This chick is on the bottom of the pecking order. The smallest one of all of them!
Back home we baked and decorated Fourth of July Cream and Berry Torte. Sonia rolled the dough with me, and cut out little stars and eagles.
Making a torte with mama is hard work and lots of fun!
We layered the cake with berries. Is this a right strawberry? No, try again, honey. Can I put blueberries here? Right here? Our barbecue torte turned out so festive! Thank you, papa, for all the pictures!! Babulya will be very glad we posted so many ;-)
The barbecue at the Pokock's house was fun and we got to know more people in our ward. Jeremy Munns's sister with her two little girls just moved into our ward and we are so excited to get to know them better!
Then we ventured to watch fireworks next to the new Army memorial, close to the Pentagon. The rodes were empty and we lucked out with the perfect parking spot. Papa is an amazing driver! Sonia loved Big Boom Booms and still talks about them every now and then. Mischa was courageous and didn't get scared at all. He got so much attention; people were even taking pictures with him that he was truly a happy dog ;-)

I've been in Alexandria for the 4th and it is really fun! Thanks for reminding me, I think I even saw that same fireworks show. Mischa must be the best behaved dog ever.
