Sonia loved doing filling up little pots
Just playing in the backyard with Alyssa.

Spring has brought us blossoms; flowers rushed through our bedroom window one morning. It was a beautiful sight. I opened the window and fresh air filled the room ;-)

Feo is tasting Mischa's tail. It is just long enough to put it in his mouth. What did Mischa do? Just laid there... yep he's got two kids in the house. Just two. So far so good; Feo is not walking. He is good for hugs.Holding hands.Playing ball.Speaking Russkij with friends and making new friends. Sonia is good at spelling po-russki too;-) Thanks to Babulya for Montessori Bukvu!

Cock-doodle Zoo special event

Up and running at7 am this Saturday. We had everything ready so I just put clothes on sleepy children tucked them into car seats and off we went on an adventure. As we hurried into the zoo chatting with friends who were also half way up... I noticed the prairie dogs were still asleep, so were the tigers and lions. We wanted to do it all games, puppets, lion & bear feedings, talking to all zoo keepers, walking on the elephant trail but our legs were too short...

We spent first two hour in hte small mammal house: Watching mongoose catching crickets they hunted them down with eager... Sonia spent a good fifteen minutes observing them. We spoke with armadillo keeper, touched armadillo shell and watched him early up in the morning. Two sloths were fighting for a sleeping box. Female would win its keeper said and she was right.
Meercats loved peeling their eggs; they would only eat egg yoke.Sonia touched meercat skins.

Naked moles were fun to observe: they live longer than any other rodent, thirty years. They live in the low oxigent environment. They don't get cancer. They can endure pain very well. They eat their own poop but only the first one.
An official cock-doodle Zoo hours were over by this time but we headed to the Bird house. At the main room a zoo keeper fed the birds and talked about some being aggressive. In bird world it means territorial. Some birds are scared of predators and prefer to flee.
Then a zoo keeper took us with a small group of school children on unofficial, back door zoo tour. I snuck in with Sonia into a back door... He woke up a kiwi bird and took her out of its cage. Then we listened about how different fly less birds adopt differently to life circumstances. Some like kiwis live in close to perfect environment. They produce huge eggs, hatching takes 65 days and their chicks come out ready to party. Then there are rheas. Males sit on eggs. Sonia was brave to to feed rhea bird. Our zoo guide let us into a cage/exhibit. Sonia held a grape and rhea gobbled it up; it also pecked Sonia's finger, then pulled her and almost knocked her off her feet.My little girl was brave; she cried but didn't whine. So very brave!
We went to see some ducks in the pond and a little chick.
Looking at ducks.Sonia noted a chick hiding behind a rock.At home we celebrated Feo's half birthday with Sonia's cake and candles. Jeremy was super tired ;-)
