Elephants in DC

In the morning Jeremy called and told me about the elephants in DC. I thought we all must go and see them. So we piled up in hte car, parked half legally on the mall and got the best viewing spot ever... right next to the news crews. Lots and lots of photographers...
Sitting on the curb and making quick friends: Lisa is almost 3 and her mom is having a baby in September and Alessandra is already three. Alessandra's grandma made her a clown costume for the occasion and the news guys interviewed and took pictures with her. Sonia dressed herself today so we didn't make a cut ;-)
We all got circus hats, wind mills and clown noses. Best of all Jeremy stepped out of his office just a block away. He couldn't stay for the whole thing but we loved seeing him and saying hello. We waited for about an hour; the elephants were late and then... they came.

The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus circus are in town, the elephants are offloaded from the train early to walk the rest of the way in. We caught them right on the 3rd street... they paused for photos with the Capitol.Sonia sneaked and saw everything first hand... I couldn't get her look at me for a moment. After the elephants were gone first thing Sonia said was that they pooped right on the street ;-) We watched the cleaning crew going up and down the street... wiping off everything but the elephant smell that still lingered in the air.

Nadia,
It looks like you are really enjoying DC. That is wonderful! Sonia is so big and Feo is darling. You are such a great mom to your kids. I love hearing about all your fun outings.

How fun to have elephants roaming around the capital! That's great that you guys got to be there for it. How far away is Alexandria from the city? It would be great to get together next time we're there - so far all my trips to VA have been so quick, hopefully the next one will be a little more relaxed. :0)

Hi Natalie,
We are about thirty minutes away and I could catch you while you are in town. We should have a lunch together next time you are here!
