Poor puppy

Mischa struggled for survival this past week and we kept wondering if he was going to make it. About a week and half ago he got bit by a lab and his eye had to be treated with antibiotic shots and daily eye drops.
Then last Tuesday we went for a run. On the way back to the house after 4.5 miles a Sheltie (small Collie) attacked him. She was off the leash and Mischa was running on the leash with me. She bit him from head to tail. He didn't even make a sound, came home, stopped eating the next day. I called the vet he said to give him chicken bullion with some rice. Mischa ate it and we thought all was going to turn for the best. Well, little did we know. By Friday he was all swollen up and his front paw was a size of a football. I called the vet again and they told me to give him some aspirin because they thought he twisted his leg. On Saturday morning Jeremy asked me to take him to see a veterinarian.
We went to Riverwoods clinic. Such a blessing that they are opened on Saturdays!!! They did a great job diagnosing him. Mischa could hardly breath, couldn't stand up any longer but was wagging his tail and greeting everyone. High fever, no broken bones but the infection from the bites spread all over his body and his legs. He got a couple shots and ten days of antibiotic to take home.
Today Mischa weighs six lb less... poor puppy!!! Looks like skin and bones with muscles all gone. However he walks, eats well and uses his leg again. We hope he will recover soon.
By the way, Jeremy went to see the Sheltie owner and his wife opened the door. He told her what happened and the guy was like "Well." The wife replied "What is well." She shut the door, wrote us a check and we went on our way.

Belated Happy St. Patties Day!

We ventured out to the City Center playground that Tuesday. It is our favorite and someone shared some green bread with us.
Sonia thought it was way too delicious.
She munched it up.
So easy to eat green after all ;-)

Yummy Sunday dinner

I got up early to make a dinner for a company of eight last Sunday ;-) Irina, Jeff and their three kids enjoyed it and we had plenty of fun together.
Sasha and Katya let Sonia ride them... poor little Katya! She was way too small for this. Irina made a better ride for Katya ;-)
We sang some Russian karaoke songs and had a great time. Thanks for coming! After everyone was gone we had a crazy bubble bath with way too many bubbles.

Sonia was not all too sure about getting in...

March happennings

A flower at the Orem story time. Perhaps a bit sad flower.
Golden Corral is a place for... well, older folks. We decided to check it out anyway. Sonia and I indulged ourselves in chocolate dipped strawberries, velvet cake, banana pudding and lots and lots more. Sonia had her ice to go and was close to seven heaven ;-)
We love church. I love to just chill in one spot for two hours without anyone saying Mama, Mama, Mama. Sonia thinks that church is another word for play. After the sacrament meeting she runs for nursery ;-) She has lots of friends here and a cool golf car. Plus a rocking fish. Yeah, church means play for now... I hope it lasts ;)On this photo she has a wounded lip. Sonia fell down on the kitchen tiles and was covered in blood. It was our first accident of a sort so it took me a while to find peroxide. She is all well by now.

Not a petting zoo

Educational... yes with lots of fun for all ages. Thanksgiving point welcomed us with a great price per person $3.50 and it included pony and tractor rides. Payton enjoyed milking a cow while Sonia and I watched. By the way, if you happen to be there at 5 pm, you'll get to watch a real cow being milked. Our visit was a bit early so we explored the process of bottling the milk in plastic jags.
In Brooklyn I used to buy milk in glass bottles for Sonia... Ronny Brook. That seemed much better milk and even non fat milk tasted great. In Utah we stick to one percent only. A goat was put back into a corral while papa and Sonia watched and posed for the shot.

If you ever wonder why it is so hard to pet animals there... well we have been told it is not a petting zoo, it is a real farm. They've got different regulations. But who can prevent coming close to a goat when there is hole?
Or if you are so handsome that lamas find you absolutely irresistible?
Plus temptation of food brings everyone a bit closer.
There is something really good in this bag, thought the goat.Sonia's fascination with birds took her to a turkey pen. First she fed them right off her hand. Jeremy kept wondering how long that was going to last before an accident. Turkeys are not exactly careful creatures. Eventually Sonia got pecked but she didn't whine. She started throwing food right into the cages.
Sonia got to ride a pony for the first time. She made one circle with mama at her side clinging way too much.
The farm caretaker decided to help Sonia learn the proper way of riding. Sonia made another circle pretty much all by herself but with so much whining
that the pony was glad to have it all over and done with. Sonia then didn't want to leave. She stood and gazed at horses making their circles and giving rides to other kids. She went back to pet a pony but didn't want to try riding again.
Soon Payton and I froze so we went to warm up while Jeremy and Sonia stayed outside and played untill it was time to go.

Bubbles

Jets are perfect for making mountains of sparkly bubbles. This was so much fun that we decided to post some nude pictures to share the fun.
Eating bubbles is also fun.
Making hats out of them is more fun.
I can't imagine going to bed and not having a bath ;-) We love our bath time.

Spring is in the air and chasing bunnies

We went up to the cemetery today and stopped to look at this cute white bunny.
He didn't run away, instead he came closer. Mischa barely took a notice of him and didn't chase him.
The bunny enjoyed pears from Sonia's snack bag and hopped under our feet.
Then Sonia went on and saw four more bunnies sitting on the hill. She ran after them. As they hopped away, Mischa stalked them with his hunting instincts running through his veins. Alas, there goes my well behaved puppy.

I saw a cute pair of shoes at Ross the other day and... the cutest pink polo dress to go with them. Sonia's heart bracelet matches it perfectly and her smile is a proof of my lucky find ;-)
My mom loved that dress when she came to visit and play with Sonia last weekend. Sonia can get Babulya to do anything. Even get in the box early in the morning and play cars with her.
